Karl Randy Pierce, MD is a board certified ophthalmologist who treats both adults and children at Eye Physicians of Austin, located in Austin, Texas. Dr. Pierce provides a wide range of services, including: LASIK, dry eye treatment, urgent care, cornea surgery, and treatment for glaucoma and cataracts. He specializes in the use of therapeutic lasers and other advanced techniques. Dr. Pierce offers his services patients from the Austin Independent School District Needy Student program, and also provides exams through the National Eye Care Project.

A native of Houston, Texas, Dr. Pierce received his medical degree from Texas A&M College of Medicine. He completed both his internship in internal medicine and his residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He’s a member of many medical organizations including the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Consumer's Research Council of America has previously named Dr. Pierce one of America's Top Ophthalmologists. He continues to pursue his education to be able to provide his patients with the most advanced forms of eye care possible.

Peter T. Wollan, MD is a board certified ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist at Eye Physicians of Austin, located in Austin, Texas. In addition to glaucoma treatment, Dr. Wollan performs cataract surgery and treats a number of common eye conditions.

A native of Austin, Texas, Dr. Wollan graduated summa cum laude from St. Edward’s University with a double major in biology and chemistry. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. At UT Houston, Dr. Wollan went on to complete a residency in general ophthalmology and a fellowship in glaucoma care. He also completed an internship in internal medicine and general surgery at the UT Houston. Dr. Wollan is a member of a number of medical organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Texas Ophthalmological Society.

Dr. Wollan attended high school in Austin where he met his wife to be, Megan. While in medical school he and Megan married. She is a practicing anesthesiologist here in Austin. They have been married for over 20 years and are raising three children near the same school where they met.

Dr. Wollan is an art enthusiast and considered majoring in art before deciding to pursue a medical degree. Dr. Wollan also enjoys participating in some volunteer screenings and other outreach programs.

Dr. Eric Dai is a board certified ophthalmologist and provides medical and surgical treatment of the eye. He has extensive experience performing cataract and corneal transplantation surgery.  

Dr. Dai is a native Texan and a graduate of Rice University. After medical school at the Baylor College of Medicine, he completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch during which he served as Chief Resident.  Dr. Dai then received additional specialized training through a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.  He has been recognized as a Texas Super Doctor as published by Texas Monthly since 2012.

When not at work caring for his patients, Dr. Dai enjoys spending time with his family and preparing Asian cuisine.

Haumith R. Khan-Farooqi, MD, is an AUPO fellowship-trained ophthalmologist with expertise in cornea and refractive surgery. He treats a broad range of ocular conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, pterygium, corneal ulcers, ocular surface tumors, corneal trauma, and many others. He has a passion for managing complex corneal infections and reducing the need for glasses through cataract surgery and PRK/LASEK. Dr. Khan-Farooqi also frequently manages and performs corneal transplants (e.g., PKP/full-thickness, DMEK/partial thickness, and keratoprosthesis).

Dr. Khan-Farooqi grew up in Stockton, California, and attended college at UCLA, where he double-majored in neuroscience and psychobiology. After graduation, he spent two years as a research assistant in the Brain Tumor Immunotherapy Lab at UCLA, where he co-authored several papers on brain tumor immunotherapy. Dr. Khan-Farooqi went on to earn his medical degree in 2010 and completed an internship in internal medicine in 2011 at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He graduated from medical school with Distinction in Research for his work on adjuvants for use in anti-tumor immunotherapy. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Tulane University in 2014, earning the departmental research award for work on a novel source of limbal stem cells for two consecutive years. Dr. Khan-Farooqi then continued his medical training with a clinical fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the Harvard Medical School Department of Ophthalmology/Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.

Upon graduating from Harvard in 2015, he came directly to Austin to practice at Eye Physicians, where he now maintains a full-time clinical practice. Given his academic roots, he continues to pursue his lifelong goal of academic medicine through teaching. As affiliate faculty with UT Dell Medical School, he serves as a mentor to medical students and ophthalmology residents who rotate through his clinic as part of their curriculum.

In his free time, Dr. Khan-Farooqi enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children, reading extensively about college sports (you might catch him at a UT game, but please remember he is a die-hard UCLA fan), and traveling.

Dr. Ryg is a Board-Certified Ophthalmic Surgeon specializing in Corneal and Refractive Surgery, committed to delivering exceptional, patient-centered eye care. He earned his undergraduate degree from Brown University and graduated with honors from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society - an achievement reserved for the top medical students in the country.

Dr. Ryg completed his ophthalmology residency at Yale University, followed by a cornea fellowship at the world-renowned Proctor Foundation at the University of California, San Francisco. He also spent a dedicated year conducting research at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. His expertise includes cutting-edge refractive cataract surgery with premium intraocular lens implants, advanced corneal transplant procedures, LASIK, and the treatment of ocular surface tumors. He has published multiple articles in respected peer-reviewed journals such as the American Journal of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Li is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who brings advanced expertise in cataract and glaucoma care to our Austin community. He is dedicated to helping patients protect their sight, improve their vision, and enjoy a better quality of life.

With specialized training in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) as well as traditional glaucoma surgery, Dr. Li offers modern treatment options designed to reduce the need for eye drops and prevent vision loss. He also performs complex cataract surgery and provides premium lens options—including astigmatism-correcting and presbyopia-correcting lenses—to help patients achieve their best possible vision.
