Sometime after age 40, most people begin to experience blurred vision up close when performing tasks like reading, sewing, or working at the computer. This condition is called presbyopia.
To Our Patients and Families:
Eye Physicians of Austin has been proactive in preparing for, and continuing to adapt to, the rapidly changing situation surrounding COVID-19. We continue to implement best practices for preventing the spread of COVID-19 including precautionary cleaning and sanitizing, screening staff and patients, and wearing proper personal protective equipment.
Beginning on Monday May 4th, 2020 we will be seeing both new and established patients during our regular 8am – 5pm office hours. We will close for an hour between 11:30am – 12:30pm to allow for additional time for cleaning and sanitizing. For the safety of our patients and staff, the following temporary measures are in place:
• While an in-person visit to the ophthalmologist is often necessary, we are excited to be able to offer telehealth visits for some conditions. Please call 512-583-2020 to inquire if a telehealth visit is appropriate for your condition.
• Our providers are in the office for conditions requiring in-person visits. In order to ensure the health and safety of our patients and staff, the doctor’s technician will be contacting you 1 -2 days prior to your appointment to update your medical history, current medications, and other pertinent information.
• We will screen every visitor that comes to our facility upon arrival. Please plan to arrive no more than five minutes before your appointment time and come with a mask or face covering. During this time, you may be asked to reschedule if you are not wearing a face covering. Please wait for admission to the building by our staff as we complete screenings. We have allowed for ample time in our schedules to complete screenings on each visitor.
• We ask that only one companion accompany the patient to their appointment if necessary and that only children scheduled for an appointment visit our building.
• We are scheduling surgeries and procedure for our patients. If your surgery was postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions, please know we are continuously monitoring guidelines so we can schedule your procedure when it is safe to do so. You may call 512-583-2020 for more information about the current schedule.
• Our Optical and Contact Lens departments are open and operating as usual on Monday through Fridays. We will resume Saturday hours as soon as possible.
Eye Physicians of Austin will continue to provide the most advanced, personalized care for all of our patients. Please contact us at 512-583-2020 with any questions or concerns.
